His main research interests are career construction (counselling), life design (counselling), emotional\u2010social&nbsp; intelligence&nbsp; and&nbsp; social&nbsp; responsibility,&nbsp; and&nbsp; learning&nbsp; facilitation&nbsp; in&nbsp; mathematics.&nbsp; He links research results to appropriate career choices and to life designing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Past editor of a number of scholarly journals, for instance,&nbsp;<em>the South African Journal of Psychology<\/em>, managing&nbsp; editor&nbsp; of&nbsp;&nbsp;<em>Gifted&nbsp; Education&nbsp; International<\/em>,&nbsp; regional&nbsp; editor&nbsp; for&nbsp;&nbsp;<em>Southern&nbsp; Africa:&nbsp; Early&nbsp; Child Development&nbsp; and&nbsp; Care<\/em>,&nbsp; and&nbsp; a&nbsp; member&nbsp; of&nbsp; several&nbsp; national&nbsp; and&nbsp; international&nbsp; bodies,&nbsp; including&nbsp; the Society&nbsp; for&nbsp; Vocational&nbsp; Psychology&nbsp; (SVP)&nbsp; (USA),&nbsp; the&nbsp; International&nbsp; Association&nbsp; of&nbsp; Applied&nbsp; Psychology (IAAP)&nbsp; (USA),&nbsp; the&nbsp; Psychology&nbsp; Association&nbsp; of&nbsp; South&nbsp; Africa&nbsp; (SA),&nbsp; and&nbsp; the&nbsp; Association&nbsp; of&nbsp; Science&nbsp; of South&nbsp; Africa&nbsp; (ASSAf).&nbsp; In&nbsp; 2009,&nbsp; he&nbsp; was&nbsp; awarded&nbsp; the&nbsp; Stals&nbsp; Prize&nbsp; of&nbsp; the&nbsp; South&nbsp; African&nbsp; Academy&nbsp; of Science&nbsp; and&nbsp; Arts&nbsp; for&nbsp; exceptional&nbsp; research&nbsp; and&nbsp; contributions&nbsp; to&nbsp; Psychology.&nbsp; In&nbsp; June&nbsp; 2014,&nbsp; he&nbsp; was awarded the Stals prize for exceptional research and contributions to Education, and he received the Psychological&nbsp; Society&nbsp; of&nbsp; South&nbsp; Africa\u2019s&nbsp; (PsySSA)&nbsp; Award&nbsp; for&nbsp; Excellence&nbsp; in&nbsp; Science&nbsp; during&nbsp; the&nbsp; 20th South&nbsp; African&nbsp; Psychology&nbsp; Congress&nbsp; in&nbsp; September&nbsp; 2014.&nbsp; Prof.&nbsp; Maree&nbsp; was&nbsp; awarded&nbsp; Honorary Membership&nbsp; of&nbsp; the&nbsp; Golden&nbsp; Key&nbsp; International&nbsp; Honour&nbsp; Society&nbsp; for&nbsp; exceptional&nbsp; academic achievements, leadership skills and community involvement in October 2014. He was awarded the Chancellor\u2019s Medal for Teaching and Learning from the University of Pretoria in 2010 and has been<br>nominated successfully as an&nbsp; Exceptional Academic Achiever on&nbsp; four consecutive occasions (2003\u2010 2016). He has a B1 rating from the National Research Foundation (the highest rating in the history of the faculty).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prof. Maree has authored or co\u2010authored 100 +&nbsp; peer\u2010reviewed articles and 55 books\/ book chapters on career counselling, research and related topics since 2009. In the same period, he supervised 30 doctoral theses and Master\u2019s dissertations and read keynote papers at 20 +&nbsp; international and at 20 + national conferences (e.g. Australia, Croatia, Egypt, France, Hungary, India, Italy, Mauritius, Poland, South&nbsp; Africa,&nbsp; Turkey,&nbsp; and&nbsp; the&nbsp; USA;&nbsp; e.g.&nbsp; one&nbsp; of&nbsp; the&nbsp; State\u2010of\u2010the\u2010Science&nbsp; speakers&nbsp; (Division&nbsp; 16: Counselling Psychology) at the International Congress of Applied Psychology, the flagship event on the&nbsp; international&nbsp; psychology&nbsp; calendar,&nbsp; held&nbsp; in&nbsp; Paris&nbsp; in&nbsp; July,&nbsp; 2014.&nbsp; Topic:&nbsp; Connecting&nbsp; life\u2010themes&nbsp; to construct&nbsp; self\u2010portraits.&nbsp; He&nbsp; has&nbsp; also&nbsp; presented&nbsp; numerous&nbsp; invited&nbsp; workshops&nbsp; at&nbsp; conferences&nbsp; across the world on a) integrating qualitative and quantitative approaches in career counselling, and b) the art&nbsp; and&nbsp; science&nbsp; of&nbsp; writing&nbsp; scholarly&nbsp; articles.&nbsp; Over&nbsp; the&nbsp; past&nbsp; seven&nbsp; years,&nbsp; he&nbsp; has&nbsp; spent&nbsp; a&nbsp; lot&nbsp; of&nbsp; time abroad.&nbsp; For&nbsp; instance,&nbsp; he&nbsp; accepted&nbsp; invitations&nbsp; to&nbsp; spend&nbsp; time&nbsp; as&nbsp; a&nbsp; visiting&nbsp; professor&nbsp; at&nbsp; various universities&nbsp; where&nbsp; he&nbsp; presented&nbsp; workshops&nbsp; on&nbsp; e.g.&nbsp; contemporary&nbsp; developments&nbsp; in&nbsp; career<br>counselling, article writing, and research methodology. Ferhan Odabas\u0131 is a faculty member of\nDepartment of Computer Education and Instructional Technology. She has an MA in\nEnglish language education and a Ph.D. in educational technology. She has\noffered several undergraduate and graduate courses on English language education\nand educational technology. She has supervised several PhD dissertations,\npublished many articles in both national and international peer-reviewed\nperiodicals, supervised and actively took part in national and international\nresearch projects, and prepared educational software. She developed\n\u201cHypervocab\u201d with Steve Neufeld, and received the European Academic Software\nAward: Best Software in the Field of Language. She conducts research on safe,\nresponsible and effective use of ICTs by children and families; parental\nawareness on Internet; professional development of teachers and higher\neducation faculty; transformations stemming from the digital world; digital\ncitizenship and ICT integration at K-12 and higher education institutions. She\nhas been the primary national figure to resort to regarding safe, effective and\nethical use of ICTs among children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Bio: <\/strong>H. Ferhan ODABA\u015eI was born in 1957 in Kayseri. After completing his primary education in Sumer Primary School and secondary education at TED Kayseri Maarif College, he completed his higher education in Hacettepe University, Department of English Linguistics in 1980. He worked as an English teacher at TED Kayseri Maarif College, and as an English lecturer at Kayseri Erciyes University and Anadolu University. H. Ferhan ODABA\u015eI completed his master&#8217;s degree in English Language Education in 1989 and his doctorate in Educational Technology in 1994. H. Ferhan ODABA\u015eI, who completed his doctoral thesis on Computer Aided Foreign Language Education, received the European Academic Software Award in 1994 with the Hypervocab study he prepared with Steve Neufeld. Odaba\u015f\u0131, who was the Director of the In-Service Foreign Language Education Center and the Institute of Educational Sciences, is currently the Dean of the Faculty of Education at Anadolu University. He has articles published in international and national journals, papers presented at scientific meetings, published books and book chapters. Working as an executive, researcher and consultant in many international and national projects, H. Ferhan ODABASI&#8217;s interests are Technology and social transformations, Internet, children and families, and professional development of higher education educators. Prof. Dr. H.
